When installing the XenDesktop Feature Pack 1 VDA software on a clean virtual machine that has had no previous Virtual Desktop Agent (VDA) software installed; no option for configuring the VDA software appears during installation, such as controller location and the TCP/IP port. Furthermore, the software appears as ‘Citrix Virtual Desktop Core Services’ under Programs and Features (Add/Remove Programs) and no option is given to reconfigure the software:

XenDesktop service checker uses the XenDesktop Powershell SDK to enumerate and register site service instances. It also checks whether or not services are running, and provides the ability to enable logging for each service.
This tool require .NET 3.5 SP1 and the XenDesktop Powershell SDK (both must be installed with XenDesktop 5 or later).
Installing XenDesktop Service Checker
Extract XD Service Checker.exe from the download and execute on a Desktop Delivery Controller (DDC) that is a member broker of a XenDesktop site.
How to Use XenDesktop Service Checker
To use this tool, run the executable file on a XenDesktop 5 member DDC. After the site is enumerated, right-click any node in the left-hand tree view to perform actions, such as registering and testing service instances, starting/stopping services, and enabling service logging.
- The following screen shot displays the main form. Each broker should have 12 service instances. These instances are bound to the main XenDesktop services as shown in the following screen shot. When the utility starts, these instances are checked. If the instance is not available, then the instance appears in red and the utility prompts for repair.
What’s New in Personal vDisk 5.6.5
Citrix personal vDisk 5.6.5 includes a new registry and file-system architecture for
personal vDisks, which ensures better usability and application compatibility.
In previous releases, the part of a personal vDisk that stores applications, the .vhd file,
was mapped by default to the V: drive. In personal vDisk 5.6.5, the .vhd file no longer
requires a drive letter, so only one drive letter is used. By default, this is still P: and
stores the profile and other user data.
In addition, a new algorithm automatically adjusts the relative sizes of the two parts of
the vDisk (the space for applications and the space on P:) depending on how the vDisk
is used. For example, if a user installs several big applications on the personal vDisk so
space becomes limited, the application space is increased relative to the space on P:.
The overall size of the personal vDisk does not change. You can configure this feature.

- Important: Installing this hotfix over an ICA session is not supported but you can install it through a remote desktop session using an administrator account.
- Installing this hotfix causes the ICA Session performance monitor counter to be removed. As a result, HDX Monitor for XenApp and some EdgeSight user session monitoring cannot find and report on that counter. To prevent this issue, make sure to install Hotfix XA600W2K8R2X64023 or its replacement before installing this and any subsequent hotfixes on systems running Citrix XenApp 6 for Windows Server 2008 R2. Issue(s) Fixed in This Release
The following issues have been fixed since the release of Citrix CloudPortal Services Manager 10:
- The Preferred Mail Stores option must be selected to allow the Hide unselected mail databases option to be disabled.
You cannot set mail stores or resource mailbox mail databases at the Active Directory level in an environment running multiple versions of Exchange.
Services Manager has been updated to use Microsoftâ€™s supported and documented processes and methodologies for Exchange 2010 SP2.
Reloading servers used for Web-based Offline Address Book distribution times out before all servers can be returned. This issue occurs with Exchange 2010 servers.
Virtual Machine Issues
- After provisioning a VM to a customer, the Connect to virtual machine dialog box displays the incorrect Hyper-V host name. This issue also occurs after migrating a VM to another host.
When moving a VM between hosts, the network resets and, on some operating systems, disconnects the network adapter due to security restrictions. This issue occurs because Services Manager uses dynamic MAC address generation for Hyper-V VMs. To avoid this issue, configure a VM with a static MAC address generated through SCVMM. To do this, perform the following actions in Services Manager: 1. Create a new VM by clicking Services > Virtual Machine > Virtual Machines, and then click New Virtual Machine. 2. Under Network Adapters, click Add network adapter. 3. Under Ethernet (MAC) address, select Static. Click Generate and then click Provision.
When a customer is provisioned with multiple Hyper-V hosts, Services Manager does not allow the customer to select a target host when creating new VMs. Instead, Services Manager automatically selects the target host. To avoid this issue, enable the Enable Host Selection option when provisioning a customer with the Virtual Machine service. To do this, perform the following actions in Services Manager: 1. From the customerâ€™s service list, click Virtual Machine > Advanced Settings. 2. Under Service Settings, select Enable Host Selection. 3. Click Provision. After this option is enabled, the customer can use the Select Host property to specify the target Hyper-V host. This property appears on the New Virtual Machine page, under Virtual Machine Identity.
Services Manager does not allocate IP addresses correctly when a customer is provisioned with the Virtual Machine service and can also resell the service. When an IP address is allocated to a subcustomer, Services Manager still displays this IP address as available to the reseller customer for provisioning.
When syncing virtual machine resource counters, Services Manager does not correctly aggregate resellersâ€™ allocated resources.
If multiple Hyper-V hosts have virtual networks with identical names, Services Manager does not display the virtual networks after virtual resources have been refreshed.
- When a service is deprovisioned from a customer, the service is not deprovisioned from the customerâ€™s disabled users. If the disabled users are re-enabled, the users are still provisioned with the service.
After importing the Citrix App Studio service, the service does not appear in the Services menu.
When an existing customer is moved to a newly created reseller, service properties might not be displayed correctly.
Importing users in bulk might result in failed import of valid users due to an invalid domain error. This issue occurs if the letter case of the target domain name in Services Manager and the imported usersâ€™ domain name does not match.
When Services Manager is configured to automatically generate UPNs and usernames according to a specified pattern, and the UPN and Username display properties are set to "Read Only," creating a new user fails, indicating the UPN and username are already in use. This issue occurs when attempting to create a user with a name similar to an existing user.
When importing users in bulk with blank UPNs or usernames, the UPN or username might not be automatically generated using the pattern specified in Services Manager. Services Manager generates the UPN or username using the default pattern. This issue occurs when the UPN and Username display properties are set to "Read Only."
When Services Manager is configured to automatically generate usernames according to a specified pattern, and users are imported in bulk, Services Manager appends numbers to the end of the customer code instead of the username when evaluating similar entries. Because the customer code is used to associate customers with their users, this issue results in similar users appearing to belong to different customers.
- When configuring a SQL Server instance as a public instance, Services Manager fails to mark the instance public after the configuration is saved.
Responsiveness of Services Manager is slow in large environments.
Services Manager API Issues
- In a multi-location environment, the Services Manager API returns the error "Conversion from type â€˜DBNullâ€™ to type â€˜Stringâ€™ is not valid" when a request is made to retrieve the customer properties available in the specified location.
When syncing passwords with the AD Sync service, the Service Manager API intermittently resets passwords of existing users. This occurs because the Services Manager API fails to set random passwords for non-existent users when no other password is specified.
Creating new instances of Web hosting or SQL Server for customers returns an error.
When creating a new customer with multiple domains specified, the Services Manager API returns the error "Domain does not exist" due to an error in how the specified domains are processed. To avoid this error when creating an API request for a new customer with multiple domains, the primary domain must be specified within <domains>.
The Services Manager API cannot scale to create many new customers simultaneously using multiple threads. Customers are created, one at a time only.
When a subcustomer is created without specifying the parent customer, the root customer OU is overwritten by the new subcustomer.
When provisioning new services without specifying a user plan, the API automatically selects a plan but does not provision the plan. Instead, the API disables the plan.
Querying a newly enabled service before it is saved to a customer returns the error "Cannot access the Service ID."
- When a customer is provisioned with the Windows DNS service and an SRV record is created, the Autodiscover service type is missing from the list of available services. When an SRV record is created with BIND, the Autodiscover service is unavailable, as intended.
When adding a new domain, provisioning requests are sent for all domains in the system, including existing domains.
After creating an SRV record, the Service Name field is blank when viewing the record details.
Windows Web Hosting Issues
- When provisioning a Web site in an environment where IIS shared configuration is enabled, Services Manager returns the error "Server was unable to process request. Failed to remove delegation from <FULL group for IIS>. Specified cast is not valid."
CRM 2011 Issues
- In environments that include multiple ADFS servers, no method exists for specifying the preferred server. Consequently, Services Manager might select the incorrect server.
In environments that include multiple CRM farms on the same domain, listing users in an organization returns errors. This occurs because Services Manager connects to the incorrect discovery server to retrieve users associated with the organization.
