Agent 4.8:
What’s new in this release:
-
Agent deployment using the McAfee Smart installer on all platforms
The McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator® (McAfee ePO™) administrator can create a URL to deploy a preconfigured agent and managed products on the client systems. The URL is shared with the user and can be used to download the McAfee Smart installer and install agent.
When installing the McAfee Agent using the McAfee Smart installer, the enhanced user interface displays the progress, such as download status, installation status, and errors.
The McAfee Smart installer can connect to the McAfee ePO server using a proxy server to download and install the agent or McAfee products.
-
SuperAgent hierarchical updating
The SuperAgents can now download content from other SuperAgents. The SuperAgent follows its policy and tries to connect to the repositories in the defined order. This saves bandwidth by minimizing the need of a client system to communicate on the WAN to download content updates.
-
Bandwidth savings statistics
You can query the McAfee ePO server for a bandwidth saving report.
-
RelayServer on Windows, Linux and other non-Windows platforms
Relay capability can be enabled on agents that have direct connectivity to the McAfee ePO server, to bridge communication between the client systems and the McAfee ePO server.
To prevent RelayServers from being misused as proxies, a security mechanism ensures that the RelayServer connects only with the McAfee ePO server or the distributed repositories that are listed in its SiteList.xml file.
