Microsoft SQL 2012 known issues with Citrix products

Citrix is committed to ensuring compatibility with the latest Microsoft SQL Server Releases

This document outlines issues and their known workarounds that users of Microsoft SQL 2012 RTM (Release to Manufacturing) must be aware of in conjunction with the following Citrix products:

XenDesktop 5.0 Service Pack 1
XenDesktop 5.5
SmartAuditor 1.3

 

Known Issues

Issue

"Installation Failed" Error dialog box appears while installing Citrix SmartAuditor Administrative Package.

Workaround

Currently there are no resolution available for this issue, ignoring the error message will allow the installation to complete successfully.

Issue

Unable to install the Citrix SmartAuditor using SQL Express 2012, it fails with an error message “Microsoft SQL Server or Express Edition (2005 and later) must be installed on the local machine."

Workaround

Currently there are no workarounds available for this issue.

Issue

Unable to Create New XenDesktop Farm using SQL 2012 RTM server, it fails with the error message: “Cannot write Property Collation. This Property is not available on SQL Server 7.0”.

Cause

This issue is caused by  Desktop Studio is not being able to communicate with the SQL 2012 server because of the Shared Management Object Library that is included in RTM version of SQL 2008 R2.

Resolution

To resolve the problem the Share Management Object library will need to be upgraded to Service Pack 1. This is included in Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 SP1 Feature Pack. Installing the Service Pack 1 version of the Shared Management Objects Library resolves the problem as well as also replacing the SharedManagementObjects.msi with the Service Pack 1 version within the XenDesktop ISO.
