Server to client content redirection fails on Windows 2008 R2 with IE9

Symptoms

Host to Client Redirection (also known as Server to Client Content Redirection) does not work on Windows 2008 R2 with Internet Explorer 9 installed. Valid URLs that must be redirected to the client open on the server side instead of the client side.

Cause

Microsoft introduced a new value for redirection

HKEY_USERS”UserSID”SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellAssociationsUrlAssociationshttpUserChoiceProgid and this is set to IE.HTTP instead of HTTP which would make HTTP Redirection work correctly.

This new value is taking priority over what Citrix normally uses for HTTP Redirection: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/http/Shell/Open/Command/ “C:Program FilesCitrixsystem32iexplore.exe” %1.

Note: The same redirection issue occurs for other protocols such as HTTPS.

Hotfix XS602E010 for XenServer 6.0.2

Citrix has released the 10th hotfix for its XenServer 6.0.2 platform.

Issues Resolved In This Hotfix

This hotfix resolves the following issues:

  1. Customers may experience a delay when booting a Virtual Machine (VM) from a PVS Server. This hotfix changes the way the PVS device is detected and resolves the iterative delays that may occur during the first stage of the boot process of a PVS device.
  2. Running more than two DHCP servers when attempting to boot a VM from a network, can cause the VM to incorrectly wait for a reply from the DHCP server and eventually time out.
  3. Attempting to boot VMs from a network where the boot files are hosted on a server other than the DHCP server, can cause the VM boot to fail. Continue reading “Hotfix XS602E010 for XenServer 6.0.2”

New Citrix ShareFile sync version

Citrix has released a new version of it’s ShareFile sync software. Version 1.3 is now available from the Citrix downloads page here. This does require a valid My Citrix ID to download.

With ShareFile sync you can easily share data in a local folder between computers and the cloud. Only downside at the moment is that it is not available for home users. If this will come available for home users I don’t know. But you can try it for free for a period of time just by registering here. Do you first want to know more about the ShareFile product just take the tour here.

I don’t get any free space or advantage for posting this but as a Citrix employee we use this daily and I really love this piece of software . It’s easy, accessable from any device (Apple, Android, Windows, internet,  etc).

If you have any questions please ask them here or contact a Citrix sales for more information.
