In the previous posts I have explained to you how to install the software and how you can create your first environment. Here’s the overview of the previous, current and yet to come posts and the Excalibur Tech Preview.
- What is Excalibur, prerequisites and overview of test lab setup
- Installation of Excalibur
- Configuring Excalibur (Studio)
- Configuration StoreFront <<Current page >>
- Install Agent software on Windows 2012 machine
- Configure Application
- Test published application and desktop (old XenApp)
In this post we are going to configure the StoreFront for use with Excalibur.
Go to the bottom left of the screen and open the tiles interface (or use Windows key ). Select the StoreFront tile which will show by know. Open StoreFront now.
When starting the console you will see this “Please wait” screen and possible a message that the console is not responding.
Once the console has started you first need to create a new deployment. Select “Create a new deployment” or “Join an existing server group”. As this is the first server I guess I’ll select the “Create a new deployment” option.
Give a name to the deployment (usually the hostname of the server is selected by default). Select “Create” to create the deployment.
The deployment is creating now. During the creation this screen is shown.
Select in the StoreFront console the option “Initial setup” to start configuring the first store.
Enter the store name you want for this store. I have chosen to go with the name “Excalibur”. Select “Next” to continue on this mission.
Add a delivery controller for this store to get the STA tickets from. If you don’t have a “XenApp” or “XenDesktop” server you can skip this step.
Select “Add” to add a controller now.
Enter a display name and select the type of STA you want to use. In my case I choose “XenApp” and enter the name of the XenApp server I already have configured (XenApp 6.5 server in this case). Choose the transport type (HTTP or HTTPS) and the appropriate port used for communication and select “OK”.
Once the STA ticket server has been added select “Next” to continue.
At the “Remote Access” screen we select “None” for as we are not using a VPN tunnel to connect through. Select “Create” to finish the configuration.
This screen is showed during the creation of the store.
Now that the store is created we can now continue on our path of exploring Excalibur.
The next part is installing an agent on our Windows 2012 machine.
