How to set a unique STA ID in XenApp 6.5 provisioned environment

In a XenApp 6.5 provisioned environment the STA (Secure Ticket Authority) ID is not unique. This is because when a XenApp 6.5 (provisioned) is rebooted the NIC (Network Interface Card) has not completely started and loaded and is not functional when the Citrix services start. Therefor the STA ID is not changed with the MAC Address of the provisioned server (as expected).

Resolution

Open the Target Device in Read/Write mode and change the startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start) for Citrix XML Service.

Installation of R01 for XenApp 6.5 displays warning 27250. The installer is unable to compile a mof file

Installation of R01 for XenApp 6.5 presents the following warning: “Warning 27250. The installer is unable to compile a mof file. Some classes in the Citrix namespace may be invalid or missing”.

Cause

The WMI repository, also known as the CIM repository, is not just a single file, but a collection of files within the Repository folder that work together as a database. If there is any kind of corruption, or missing files, installation of the Rollup Pack will fail, and blank out your servers registry entries for the farm name. Adding the farm name back manually does not work, and IMA will continuously fail. Continue reading “Installation of R01 for XenApp 6.5 displays warning 27250. Installing and Uninstalling This Release

Notes:

Citrix XenApp shadow failed with error code 120

Cause

Typically this would be caused by the end user having multi-monitors: http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX125693/

In this scenario, changes were made to the server, either by a removal of the farm, or a misconfiguration which causes a registry key to be deleted.

Resolution

Caution: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

Complete the following steps to resolve the error:

  • On the non working server open reg key: HKLMSoftwareWow6432NodeCitrixInstall.
  • Look for a Binary entry called Setting. Note: If this entry is not present, shadowing will not work.
  • On a working server, open reg key: HKLMSoftwareWow6432NodeCitrixInstall.

HDX MediaStream hotfix for Citrix XenApp 6.5

New Fixes in This Release

    [From HDXFlash200WX64002][#LA1077]

Fixes from Replaced Hotfixes

    • Applications can exit unexpectedly.
    • During logon attempts, an Error 1030 appears on the endpoint.
    • During logoff attempts, the Virtual Desktop Agent returns to the Logon screen and the endpoint continues to display the Desktop Viewer.

    [From HDXFlash200WX64001][#LA0388]

  2. Accessing certain Web sites with Internet Explorer and HDX MediaStream for Flash enabled can cause the Web page to become unresponsive, displaying only a cyan background.

Hotfix for XenApp 6.5 AppCenter

New Fixes in This Release

  1. When publishing a streamed application, if the .profile name differs from the parent folder name, the AppCenter incorrectly reports:

“The above file name is not a valid Citrix streaming application profile.”

    [From DSCXAMx650W002][#LA0505]

  2. This fix improves the reliability of the AppCenter when custom administrators with permissions to “View Published Application and Content” navigate to Applications and then click Current Settings.

    [From DSCXAMx650W002][#LA1313]

  3. When multiple administrators make changes from different consoles at the same time, they might not be able to view each other’s changes unless discovery is run.

    [From DSCXAMx650W002][#LA1455]

  4. The AppCenter becomes unresponsive when trying to rename a published application while the Current Settings tab is active.

    [From DSCXAMx650W002][#LA1665]
